  • spinal cord injury and similar disability

About Midlands Regional Center
Midlands Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Under direct supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, ensure compliance with Title XIX Regulations pertaining to staff/individual ration, programs, and the physical facilities throughout Midlands Regional Center during non-business hours. Ensure ICF/MR programs compliance by 'walk around' for quality assurance. Provide crisis intervention in emergencies and ensures notifications of the proper authorities.
Monitor programs and documents accordingly to ensure that each individual receives active treatment.
Assist/Monitor staff in responding to aggressive behaviors and insures that staff are responding in accordance with the designed Behavior Support Plans.
Work in concert with other Departments during the scheduled tour of duty.
Initiate preliminary investigations on injuries by following the ANE and Preliminary Review policies and procedures.
Secures incident scene make reports to law enforcement when necessary.
Schedule and maintain Fire Drills and in-services.
Conduct fire drills and sanitation safety surveys.
Conduct complete building evacuations at least once a year residences.
Assist Nurse Manager in responding to all emergencies.
Ensures the safety and well-being of the people that live and work at Midlands with the input/assistance of the information Specialist.
Ensures that the information Specialist is on duty to help maintain operations at all times, thus ensuring protection from harm.
Supervise, monitor, and appraise the performance of Administrative Specialist.
Meet and greet families, friends, and special guests who visit Midlands and coordinate their visit while on campus.
Perform and/or participate in Quality and Development activities as assigned by the Supervisor or Administrator of the Facility.
Complete other assigned duties as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and relevant program experience. Must possess a valid SC Driver's License.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for HigherEducation Accreditation.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of college education or an Associate degree. Two (2) years of supervisory experience. Must possess a valid SC Driver's License.
Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to the area of employment. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
