Job Summary
The CampusSafety Staff secures assigned University Academic and Administrative Buildings.The Campus Safety Staff maintains a safe and secure environment for students,faculty, and staff by conducting security checks in assigned areas to include AcademicBuilding, Administrative Buildings, Parking Lots, Residential Buildings andreports suspicious activities to University Dispatch/UPD when needed, ensurescompliance with University and Residence Life policies and responds immediatelyto emergency situations, i.e. fire alarms, security alarms, and medical/injurycalls.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. The University Police Secures University Academic and Administrative Buildings.
  2. Conducts frequent patrols of assigned area for the purpose of detecting and reporting suspicious behavior and/or activity.
  3. Monitors Residence Hall entrances for any unauthorized entries.
  4. Inspects assigned area for physical security and reports signs of intrusion.
  5. Provides authorized safety escorts to members of the campus community.
  6. Interacts with campus visitors while assisting with directions and/or other information.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned to accomplish the goals of Department.

Minimum Qualifications
HighSchool Diploma and/or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D). Oneto three months of related or equivalent combination of education andexperience. Valid Mississippi Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledgeand skill within Windows-based computer and software applications, to includeMicrosoft Office applications, ability to use email to send and receivecorrespondence.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication andinterpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative workingrelationships and to interact with students, faculty and staff.

Preferred QualificationsThree years of Experience as Security/Safety Professional. Experience responding to Emergencies.
