Job Title: Campus Safety Monitor

Primary Purpose:
To create a safer environment, for students, district personnel, visitors, and property. Monitoring of campuses, facilities, and parking areas to reduce the opportunity for theft, vandalism, and destructive activities, and limit unauthorized access to grounds and facilities by utilizing an observe and report protocol.
Qualifications:
  • Education/Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred
  • Valid Texas driver's license

Major Responsibilities & Duties:
  1. Validate the campus is properly and adequately secured by monitoring student activities in hallways, conducting facility checks, and patrolling premises, including parking areas for the presence of unauthorized persons and verifying their authority.
  2. Alert administrators and the resource officer of the presence of unauthorized persons within campus boundaries.
  3. Direct authorized visitors to their proper destination.
  4. Report safety and security vulnerabilities (such as fire hazards and unsecured exterior doors) to campus administrators or other appropriate authorities of any situation requiring immediate attention.
  5. Patrol campus exterior, including parking areas for unauthorized persons and vehicles and improperly parked vehicles, and report violations to campus administration.
  6. Report all incidents of student code of conduct violations, including misbehavior and damage to district property.
  7. Maintain a high level of emotional and physical restraint when dealing with students.
  8. Maintain daily contact with campus and security administrators by way of radio and/or telephone.
  9. Maintain confidentiality of student, personnel, and district information.
  10. Establish and maintain a professional rapport with resource officers and staff; exhibit behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible; serve as a role model and maintain professional standards of conduct with students, personnel, parents, and visitors.
  11. Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to the supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
  12. Provide escort services to visitors, students, and staff as necessary.
  13. Maintains security controls for issued district-issued keys and equipment.
  14. Prepares reports related to security incidents, issues, hazards, and activities.
  15. Notify supervisors immediately of evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide, or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
  16. Comply with the district, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations.
  17. Participate in required annual automated external defibrillator (AED), crisis prevention institute, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Stop the bleed training, and other required district training.
  18. Use appropriate district-approved physical safety techniques including restraint.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
