YMCA Camp Elk is looking for Food Service Staff to provide an exceptional dining service. Staff would be responsible for safe preparation of food, serving and clean up for campers and staff. This is a seasonal position that starts in June and runs through mid August.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Safe food preparation, cleaning and service.
- May bake, cook, fry, boil, broil, roast, BBQ and steam food.
- Wash, clean, disinfect in all areas of Food Service, handling and cooking.
- Inspect kitchen and dining hall, ensure no hazards are present, and set boundaries.
- Follow standards (safety and programming) set forth by ACA (American Camping Association)
- Follow and enforce YMCA Camp E.L.K. policies and procedures, safety standards and rules at all times.
- Carry out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner.
- Display professionalism with proper hygiene.
- Be prepared and present for all scheduled meals.
- Report all accidents, illnesses and incidents to the Camp Nurse and/or Program Director in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Certifications & Experience Required:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- First Aid and CPR certifications (will be able to obtain during summer camp staff training).
- Experience in a commercial kitchen or with food preparation is desired.
- Ability to obtain food handler certification required.
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.

- Willing and able to work in a physically and mentally demanding environment on a daily basis.
