The Family YMCA of the Glens Falls Area is hiring for Camp Counselors and we are excited to have you join our team! As a Camp Counselor, you will lead camp activities for children ages 3-12. Work cooperatively with a group of 3-4 counselors to provide quality programming for a unit of 20-30 campers. Participate in all camp program areas including, but not limited to, recreation, swimming, arts & crafts, sports, special events, and theme related activities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead activities as determined by the Camp Director.
- Assist in maintaining accurate program records including attendance, incident reports, meal counts, and more.
- Participate in unit planning, working with other counselors and the Lead Counselor.
- Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with camp.
- Ensure that camp areas are kept clean and free of litter.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Supervise small groups of 10-15 campers independently and assist in the supervision of large groups of 25-30 campers.
- Attend special events as assigned and represent the YMCA as a responsible and professional counselor.
- Observe and enforce all association procedures, including but not limited to the Child Abuse Prevention Policy, Code of Conduct, and risk management procedures.
- Maintain proper appearance adhering to the dress code set forth in the Glens Falls YMCA Personnel Policy and the Day Camp Staff handbook.
- Be prepared to change group assignments with little or no advanced notice in order to maintain proper counselor to camper ratios.

- Obtain/maintain CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
