About KIPP New Jersey
KIPP New Jersey is part of the nationally recognized “Knowledge Is Power Program” network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools dedicated to preparing students for success in college and in life. In 2002, KIPP New Jersey first opened its doors in Newark’s South Ward as a single class of 80 fifth graders and has since grown to educate 7,035 students in grades K-12 across 15 schools in Newark and Camden. More than 90% of KIPP New Jersey students currently qualify for free or reduced meals.

We’re looking for a one on one paraprofessional for the current school year! Our high school is seeking new teammates to ensure our schools are great places for all students. Our teammates are dynamic leaders both in and outside of their classroom. They love students, families and the community they serve. They are also willing to do whatever it takes to make sure their students learn and achieve.

A bit more about you… you have experience working with students with cognitive learning disabilities and understand how to get them excited about learning. You have the passion and drive to work with students and put them on a path to college a choice-filled life.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Joining our high school as a paraprofessional comes with a lot of growth opportunities, but with great power comes great responsibility. Here are a few for this position:
- Work one on with a student with a cognitive learning disability
- Provide assistance with individualized programmed materials
- Assist in carrying out programs of support staff (SLP, OT, PT, APE)
- Assist students with activities of Daily Living (diapering, eating)
- Maintain appropriate records and daily/weekly tracking sheets
- Assist with progress monitoring for individualized education plans
- Assist in education demonstrations, if necessary
- Be a good TEAMmate – work closely with other school staff to reinforce expectations for all students
Qualifications
Must Haves:
- Experience supporting with Daily Living Skills such as diapering and feeding
- Experience supporting students with a cognitive learning disability
- Exhibit positive rapport with students
Nice to Haves:
- A record of exceptional student achievement and results at a high-performing charter network/charter management organization.
- A belief that all students deserve a world-class education which can be achieved through education reform
- Speak Spanish and English
