General Manager of The Café at Thistle Farms

Pay Range: $56,500 - $67,800
Job Summary:
Thistle Farms is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to helping women survivors recover and heal from prostitution, trafficking, and addiction. We do this by providing a safe place to live, meaningful jobs, and a lifelong sisterhood of support.
At The Café at Thistle Farms, the General Manager is responsible for managing all front-of-house operations, while consistently providing warm hospitality and quality offerings to every guest. The General Manager is also responsible for providing front-of-house staff with training, product knowledge education, coaching, and opportunities for advancement. The General Manager creates a positive and safe work environment for high staff retention, positive customer experiences, and optimal sales results by modeling our core values.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
Oversees the daily workflow of the Cafe
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Handles discipline of employees in accordance with company policy.
Creates weekly schedule with Cafe Director
Duties/Responsibilities:
Management
Ensures cafe runs smoothly and efficiently
Provides and staggers employee breaks
Fills in, when necessary for call outs and/or busy times (BOH & FOH)
Refunds, adjusts, etc. corrects mistakes on Square
Communicates efficiently and effectively with FOH and BOH
Report (and/or resolve, if possible) all problems to MOD
Ensure all cleaning tasks and chores for the day are completed
Manages FOH staff
Delegate FOH duties as necessary
Post weekly FOH Staff schedule, approve time off and punch requests
Monitor operations during service, ensuring guest satisfaction and efficient operation.
Creates an environment where employees make empowered decisions to ensure guest satisfaction.
Uphold quality of service and products for guests.
Prepare team and products for upcoming events.
Participate in weekly meetings with the Director, Event Coordinator, Culinary Team.
Assist the Director as needed in revenue generation programs.
Participate in weekly one-on-one with the Director to facilitate personal development.
Other duties as assigned by Cafe Director
Implementation
Complete action steps for productivity, production, quality, cleanliness and customer service standards as needed and directed by the Cafe Director
Ensure all drink recipes and printed standards are accurate and up-to-date
Expedite food
Plan and prepare accordingly for all in house tea parties, boxed lunches, or large reservations
Ensure proper use and maintenance of all FOH equipment
Identify best operating practices
Review operations and staff to identify any problems, concerns or opportunities for improvement and discuss with Director of Cafe
Collaborate with task-focused Floor Manager
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Ability to assist in inventory procedures
Must posses sense of urgency
Must be able to operate Square system and take-out platforms
Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance
Detail-oriented
Ability to motivate employees to work together as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards
Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities
Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills
Min. 2 years restaurant management experience
Physical Requirements:
Typical work week- 40 hours/week
Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting 25 lbs or more, and repetitive hand/wrist motion
Work with hot, cold and hazardous equipment
