SUMMARY:
CAD Technicians at Fessler & Bowman are self-motivated individuals who work closely with the management and operations teams to ensure project accuracy. The CAD Technician creates and manages 2D and 3D models for the layout team, GPS machine control, and as-built documentation. The below descriptions are representative of, but not limited to, the expectations of this role.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent in training and experience.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Experience with Autodesk applications preferred.
- Creative and results-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency and self-motivation
Responsibilities:
FIVE KEY ROLES OF THE TITLE:
- Use Autodesk technologies (AutoCAD, Civil3D) to produce 2D and 3D models per contract documents.
- Utilize layout-specific software (Layout Pro Office) to coordinate with the team on site.
- Work closely with the estimating and management team once projects have been awarded to understand the scope, compile design files, identify RFIs, and prepare 2D and 3D models.
- Continuously coordinate with layout and management team to ensure as-builts are up to date and distributed to the proper team members.
- Clearly and effectively communicate with clients, vendors, and third-party surveyors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, integrate, coordinate, and manage 2D and 3D models for total station, GPS control, and as-built documentation.
- When required, provide 2D and 3D models to general contractors for project coordination with other trades.
- Work closely with the layout field team to identify, assess, and resolve design conflicts and in-field issues that directly affect Fessler & Bowman’s scope of work.
- Continuously refine and manage layout application capabilities and provide operations and management staff training support.
- Coordinate models with the layout team to import and export point files for use in the field and generate as-built documentation.
- When applicable, work alongside subcontractors to coordinate concrete reinforcement, formwork, etc.
- Communicating and upholding the Company’s commitment to Integrity and Code of Ethics and ensuring the same for the entire team.
- Other relevant tasks as assigned.
