CAD Specialist/Plan Room Coordinator

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director Space Optimization, the Facilities CAD Specialist provides architectural and engineering GIS Modeling, CAD drafting, analysis, and document management. This position updates the campus electronic library of buildings, grounds and infrastructure documents, plans, and maps. The position is responsible for the coordination of the Facilities Plan Room, which includes scanning, labeling, uploading, filing, and auditing all stored files. 

Department Summary

Facilities Management and Development (FMD), a unit within the Administration and Finance Division (AFD), is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. FMD consists of five critical and interdependent support departments, including Customer & Business Services; Energy, Utilities, & Sustainability; Environmental Health & Safety; Facilities Planning & Capital Projects; and Facilities Operations. Key Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of drafting methods, materials, techniques, instruments, and symbols used in architectural, mechanical, civil, and electrical drawings. 
• Thorough knowledge and experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) programs (such as AutoCAD, Revit, Access, Excel, Illustrator). 
• Demonstrated ability in using web authoring systems and developing web content according to best practices. 
• Knowledge of a wide range of facilities management operations including building codes, laws, ordinances and regulations, and trades applicable to construction, maintenance, and repair. 
• Demonstrated ability in engineering mathematics and calculations including difficult dimensions and quantity estimations. 

Education and Experience

Associates degree or equivalent with extensive coursework in drafting technology, engineering, or a related discipline AND four years of progressively responsible drafting experience, including two years at the journey-level preparing complete design and construction drawings for construction projects or for modification of existing structures and systems. One year of specialized drafting experience, which has demonstrated that the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the fundamental knowledge and abilities of a draftsperson, may be substituted for the required education. 

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $65,000 - $84,500 per year

Classification Range: $48,120 - $87,048
