The CAD/PDM System Administrator is an integral part of the organization's Engineering and product development operations. This role ensures that Computer Aided Design (CAD) data is well-organized, easily accessible, and the Product Data Management (PDM) systems are effectively maintained and supported. The CAD/PDM Administrator will be highly knowledgeable in data management throughout the product lifecycle, developing strategies in the areas of solid modeling, Product Data Management, Product Life Cycle Management, and Configuration Management.
The salary range for this position is US $68,500- $90,000
Process and Practices:
- Implement industry best practices, emerging technologies, and advancements in CAD/PDM (Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) solutions to continually enhance design processes.
- Collaborate with Engineering and PLM teams to understand current processes and design optimized methodologies using CAD/PDM (Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) applications by defining best practices for Design & Integration into Windchill.
- Ensure standards & templates for CAD drawings are applied consistently to all CAD users (standalone or using Windchill).
- Collaborate with Global Configuration & Change Management & Global PLM to define, configure, and maintain Product Life Cycle (PLM) workflows. Automate processes whether standardized through workflows, templates, and other means.
- Ensure that implemented methodologies meet external standards like ASME, Quality Standards and Compliance Requirements
System:
- Responsible for administration of CAD and PDM for configurations, software upgrades, environments, and licenses. (Mechanical CAD) Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD etc.
- Be the SME (subject matter expert) for collecting requirements for CAD configuration changes and changes to integration to Windchill and subsequently support in testing & deployment activities.
- Develop and maintain training materials/documentation for engineers and designers on the use of CAD/PDM (Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD etc.) software and optimized methodologies. Publish Tips, Techniques, and Best Practices for use of CAD and PDM/PLM Databases.
- Coordinate external, comprehensive training, guidance, and rollout plans to Engineering teams
- Support the user community for CAD and Integration issues in Windchill including manual migration of CAD data.
- Interact and support integration efforts and data sharing amongst internal engineering disciplines and departments.
- Ensure seamless integration of CAD/PDM (Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) into Engineering’s design and workflows, addressing any interoperability challenges.
- Work with management on software budget forecasting, Statement of Work & contract reviews, licensing agreements and maintenance.
- Provide technical support and assistance as needed, to users of the PDM & PLM systems, including installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting software.
- Collaborate with the Engineering teams to develop, implement, and maintain CAD file standards, templates, libraries, and system configurations.
Skills:
- BS in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a similar technical field
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a CAD user or administrator using SolidWorks and/or Creo.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Windchill admin or user managing CAD data.
- Familiar with Product Lifecycle Development Processes and configuration control (revisions, release level, approvals).
- Working knowledge of CAD license management.
- Working knowledge of CAD software administration and installation.
- Flexibility/adaptability in a fast-paced & dynamic environment.
- Excellent Oral & Written Communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with WBM (Windchill Bulk Migrator) for migrations or should have completed successful migrations.
- Experience in migrating and implementing new CAD and PDM/PLM software.
- Knowledge of the product development process, material specification data, and product BOM structures.
- This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
