Job Description:
As a CAD Engineer, you will be responsible for the conceptual design, detailed design, and production release of various interior components including Body interior components, IP, Console, Doors, Hard, and Soft trim. You will utilize Catia V6 to create CAD surfaces and solids, implement GD&T, and design fastening mechanisms. Managing system, subsystem, and component information in the Enovia PLM and Catia V6 environment is also a crucial aspect of the role. Collaboration with studio, packaging, advanced engineering, manufacturing, and supplier activities will be necessary to develop optimal design solutions. Additionally, you will champion fundamental design principles across the vehicle and support the development of best practices for design and engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conceptual design, detailed design, and production release of interior components
- Creation of CAD surfaces and solids, GD&T, and fastening design using Catia V6
- Management of system, subsystem, and component information in Enovia PLM and Catia V6 environment
- Interface with various departments to develop optimal design solutions
- Champion fundamental design principles across the vehicle
- Support the development of best practices for design and engineering
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline
- Minimum 2 years of experience in designing interior trim and components
- Proficiency in Catia V6 for creating complex CAD models quickly and efficiently
- Experience in interior process such as wrapping, injection molding, painting, compression molding, etc.
- Familiarity with common structural part manufacturing processes such as stamping, extrusion, casting
- Understanding of computational tools available to design engineers
- Proficiency in GD&T and its application to part, assembly, and customer requirements for gap and flush
- Strong team working and interpersonal skills
- Experience with launch processes
