POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for sourcing and procuring goods and services at the best possible cost while ensuring high standards of quality, reliability, and timely delivery. The role involves managing the procurement process for assigned commodities, with a primary focus on purchased components from approved suppliers.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
  • Responds to queries and concerns from management
  • Identifies business constraints and develops corrective actions
  • Obtains and analyzes data for critical decision making purposes
  • Supports the day-to-day operations of the supply chain department
  • Collects, organizes, monitors, and distributes information related to projects or initiatives
  • Works collaboratively across departments and with external partners
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Procurement:
  • Monitor inventory levels, ensure stock accuracy and implement strategies to minimize excess or obsolete inventory
  • MRP-review daily by supplier number and material number; Create and place purchase orders with suppliers
  • Follow-up on purchase orders to expedite delivery/shipment if required and communicate issues/concerns
  • Responsible for ensuring pricing is accurate and matches agreed upon contract/pricing. Work with Finance and Supplier to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Monitor planning parameters in MRP, adjusting as needed, and updating master data as required
Quality Assurance:
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to establish and maintain quality standards for purchased components
  • Work closely with suppliers to address and resolve quality issues promptly
Supplier Management:
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on key metrics such as cost, quality, service, and responsiveness
  • Conduct regular supplier reviews, visits, and implement improvement plans as needed
Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop internal and external mitigation strategies to ensure manufacturing continuity
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact procurement
Strategic Sourcing:
  • Support leadership to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for assigned commodities through strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with approved suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain
  • Continuously monitor market trends and conduct cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction
  • Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in production planning/scheduling, purchasing, or inventory management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
SPECIALIZED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Distribution, Logistics, Materials Management, or related field preferred
  • QAD knowledge a plus
  • APICS certification (CSCP or CPIM), CPP or CPM certification preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 30 pounds.
