Want to learn how to be a butcher? Or are you already familiar with cutting meat? The 1915 Meatery is hiring a person to grind meat, make sausage, package cuts and other value added items in our brand new butcher shop! We are a whole animal craft butcher that brings in quarter beef carcasses and sides of pork of our own locally raised livestock to be further broken down into retail cuts - pork chops, steaks, etc of our grassfed and pasture raised livestock. The butcher's assistant will be responsible for packaging and labeling meat, using equipment to grind and make sausages, and eventually help operate the smoker for bacon, deli meats, hams, etc. If you want to learn how to be a butcher as well and cut meat, this is a great segway! - Portion, package, and label meat into specific cuts according to head butcher's requests
- Package and label meat products
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the butcher area
- Adhere to food safety regulations, guidelines, SOP's and SSOPs
- must be able to lift heavy boxes / carcasses
Experience:
- Previous food handling experience is nice but not required
- Willingness to learn different cuts of meat and their uses
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong physical stamina and dexterity to handle heavy luggers of meat
Please note that this position is in a butcher shop. The hours are 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM with a 30 minute lunch break.

Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
