Purpose/ Summary:

The Business Unit Leader position will have accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. This role will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy and management/leadership of hourly/ salary staff including direct labor, engineering and quality staff, and cell supervisors.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Under General Direction:

  • Provides leadership to all organizations and individuals in the Business Unit in order to meet customer requirements for quality, cost, and delivery
  • Provides development of staff leaders to guide plant and support organizations
  • Leverages continuous improvement skills to troubleshoot and fully optimize the production operations through all shifts, utilizing systems assets and resources
  • Works with customers, functional leaders, and internal staff to meet organizational requirements
  • Leads the establishment and attainment of Business Unit goals in quality, cost, schedule, compliance and safety
  • Ensures schedule attainment by utilizing production monitoring tools, production troubleshooting and problem resolution initiatives
  • Establishes and maintains the plant vision for success
  • Facilitates the leadership team in strategic decision-making and problem-solving
  • Provides leadership development and performance feedback to the Business Unit staff
  • Develops and tracks expense and investment budgets with the input of each organization
  • Establishes and adjusts an organizational structure that best supports the Business Unit goals and measurements
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, motivating, coaching, and disciplining employees; ensures a safe, secure, and legal work environment; develops personal learning and growth opportunities for staff; communicates job expectations and delegates responsibilities.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the Site Leader

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Ability:

  • Expert Business process knowledge related to Planning and MRP
  • Knowledge and experience with ERP systems
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations in the aerospace industry
  • Knowledge and experience of Six Sigma training
  • Solid technical, quantitative, and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management and presentation skills with the ability to design and deliver training programs
  • Team leadership skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and provide efficient solutions
  • Ability to handle diverse activities simultaneously
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively in a matrix organization
  • Ability to working effectively with internal clients at the highest levels of the organization with a track record as a solid relationship manager

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Ten (10) years of manufacturing experience.
