The Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Server Business Unit Team. The role will be focused on modeling and analysis and development which will directly support and inform decision making across the AMD Server Business Unit staff and other strategic decision-making forums. The role will require identifying relevant internal and external data sources, implementing model structural design and sensitivity, and maintaining analysis and structures as inputs and requirements may change. The role is expected to coordinate effectively and efficiently with other strategy team members and more broadly across the server team to aggregate the ideas, develop analytics hypotheses, models and create visual presentations of analysis results. We are looking for candidates to be based in Austin, TX.
The Person:
To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • Experience developing data analysis in timely fashion with structured models, explicit assumption documentation, and clean final presentations.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity in problem statements and assignments requiring outreach to experts to develop and implement analysis approach.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with teams to deliver projects on time.
  • Willingness to understanding the semiconductor business and its pricing process.
  • Effective presentation skills representing the key insights from data analysis.
  • Strong attention to details and sense of urgency. Able to effectively perform multiple/concurrent tasks under high pressures and multiple deadlines.
  • Curiosity and a will to improve existing process/structure and systems.
  • Willingness to learn or expand from the current skill set to the next level as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop data driven analysis and conclusions for our planning processes and business unit strategic initiatives.
  • Develop datasets that can used to optimize strategies and products for the BU Team by building reports, dashboards, decision-optimization tools, and visualizations (using Python, Power BI)
  • Deliver high-quality modeled datasets that turn raw data into analytics tables that power ad hoc analysis and operational reporting for data consumers.
  • Become a subject matter expert on the tools used to move data across analytics databases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders as well as the Analytics team to gather requirements that you will use to build logical and physical data models.
  • Improve the efficiency of the Analytics team by owning and evolving datasets used to drive strategic decision making, and implementing best-in-class extract, transform and load (ETL) techniques to ensure resilience, accuracy, and expandability of core Analytics datasets.
  • Build and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders to improve efficiencies related to the development, review, and approval of analysis.
  • Partner effectively within the team to drive creative thinking and problem solving that translate into actionable initiatives for the business unit to achieve its goals and establish key Metrics or KPIs.
  • Maintain and improve Current Projects

Experience:
  • Functional: Proven Excel modeling and PowerPoint presentation
  • Analytics: Proven understanding of Statistical Business concepts and Metrics
  • Development: Model Development using Python/Excel/ Visualization Tools
  • Years of experience: 3 to 5

Skills:
  • Coding - Abstract understanding of programming
  • Proficient in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau.
  • Medium to Advanced knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Python, Power Query M, etc.
  • VBA/Access/Sharepoint experience, good to have; willingness to learn as needed for legacy projects.
  • Strong Excel Development - Power Query M / Power Pivot / VBA etc.
  • Familiarity with Python to cleanse, manipulate, and present data, particularly using Pandas.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying trends and patterns from data.
  • Excellent understanding of database systems, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with developing and optimizing ETL processes.
  • Willingness to question the validity, accuracy of data and assumptions - and make recommendations to improve our ability to make decisions.

Academic Credentials:
  • Education: BS/MS's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Information Technology, or related field
