The Honors College at Georgia State University seeks a dynamic and experienced Business Manager IIto manage its business and financial operations. This pivotal role entails managing financial affairs, human resources, and administrative functions within the college.
The Business Manager II collaborates closely with the Dean, advising on all financial matters, and preparing regular reports and analyses of state and foundation budgets. Additionally, this role includes direct supervision of an Administrative Specialist and indirect oversight of student assistants.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
Advise the Dean on all financial matters involving the college, monitor departmental expenditures, and approve all expenditures.
• Provide guidance and support to 14 core staff, 6 faculty associates, and 2 associate deans regarding fund utilization, reimbursement, and budget management.
• Oversee funding sources, prepare annual budgets, and manage foundation budgets using fund accounting. Manage foundation expenses, including domestic and international contracts, using Web Invoice and Financial Edge.
• Review and approve expenditures by means of the university accounting systems (Spectrum and Panthermart) all financial transactions, including scholarship disbursements, invoices, p-card transactions, travel authorization and expenses, and Panthermart purchases.
• Supervise an administrative specialist and indirectly oversee student assistants at the reception desk.
• Facilitate human resource activities, including coordinating with unit search committees, managing personnel transactions using OneUSG PeopleSoft, monitoring payroll and correcting errors, administering specialized scholarships (e.g., Beckman Scholarship), arranging stipends for faculty associates, and maintaining HR records such as PRFs, performance reviews, and exit interviews.
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive financial reports, including monthly reports for state and foundation budgets using Spectrum/Peoplesoft, annual reports on foundation expenditures for the Board of Visitors, and data visualizations for internal and external audiences. Additionally, maintain materials for policy and procedure documents/reports and collect data for administrative reporting.
• Independently execute student activity fee and technology fee proposals, manage student fee committees, and complete fee budgets and reports.
• Collaborate with the area IT manager on hardware and software needs, prioritize projects, facilitate installations, and represent the college in the IIT Community of Interest.
• Assist in coordinating special projects, planning meetings, and organizing special events.

Qualifications
Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and four years of administrative experience or a combo of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Previous experience in a higher education or academic office environment.
• Knowledge of business and financial management practices, including experience with financial and budgetary processes.
• Proficiency with Excel and advanced data visualization functions.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional customer service abilities.
• Familiarity with university rules, office policies, and procedures.
• Familiarity with software systems such as Spectrum, Panthermart, Banner, OneUSG PeopleSoft, and Slate CRM.
• Experience in recruiting and retaining high-ability students.
• Demonstrated success in managing projects and/or groups.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities effectively.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
