The Business Lending Manager is a producing management role. This individual supervises a team of Business Relationship Officers who acquire, expand, and retain a commercial banking portfolio to generate new loans and deposits from existing or prospective members. An ideal candidate is a driven, highly motivated self-starter who is seeking to propel the largest credit union in Florida to the next level of business markets.
- Build and leverage internal and external partnerships to generate leads that grow the business
- Develop and manage the team's pipeline, strategies, processes, and plans to empower the Business Relationship Officer team
- Assist members with meeting complex business goals while also achieving the credit union's goals
- Oversee COI development and Business Member calls
- Ensure BRO’s submit accurate applications with required supporting documentation to Business Credit and Administration Underwriters in addition to recommendations for approval or denial
- Review commitment letters and CAMs
- Manage BRO queues and monitor the required Service Level Agreement timelines
- Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of data communication between members and credit union staff to meet standard practices
- Conduct recurring meetings to discuss topics of concern to resolve customer and member-escalated concerns
- Lead the overall performance of the team to the achievement of goals assigned by the Executive Director of Business Lending
- Conduct coaching sessions and annual evaluations
- Review closings and scorecards for compensation plan
- Update the team regarding changes to policies and procedures
- Act as an active member and participate in the assigned community market
- Review and recommend new methods and procedures to make daily operations more efficient
- Perform considerable short-term planning, scheduling, and coordinating within the area of responsibility
- Set goals and objectives for assigned teams to achieve operational and strategic results
- Provide direction and guidance to subordinate managers
- Develop and mentor directly reporting staff
- Cultivate strong working relationships and build trust among team members
- Assist with developing and implementing long-term and short-term business objectives
- Interpret and implement management policies
- Assist with the development, monitoring, and maintenance of the department budget
- Assist with regulatory compliance to ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable laws and government regulations
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise
- Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, finance, or a related (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements)
- 7+ years of sales or business development experience
- Proven ability to attract and retain high-quality talent
- Proven ability to generate leads and build a book of business, including a pipeline for future opportunities
- Thorough understanding of personal and business financial statements
- Operational knowledge to analyze the creditworthiness of members at all levels, both personal and business
- Strong organization, prioritization, analytical, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage areas of responsibility and attain goals
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
