The Business Intelligence Developer (BID) analyzes, provides specifications for, and authors individual reports for assigned applications to support the needs of The Christ Hospital Health Network. The BID is the primary resource for the Epic Cogito suite of analytics applications and has the responsibility of system support, maintenance, analysis, design, and change control of all reporting components used to build and manage Hospital / Practice / Business office reporting. The role is also responsible for validating existing foundation system reports and finding optimization and performance enhancement opportunities. The BID also works with customers to investigate, evaluate, and prioritize customer needs then translate into usable outputs (reports, dashboards, extracts, data models, etc..).

Duties and Responsibilities

Create operational and project-related reports for implementation and ongoing support of the Epic Cogito suite of analytics applications.

Develop DAX measures and calculated columns to derive meaningful insights from the data.

Manage entire PBI report server, including security settings, subscriptions, and content; Configure these settings to optimize report performance and protect sensitive data.

Create complex extracts using 3rd party report writing tools to display EMR or third-party data.

Participate in project meetings as a key contributor with stakeholders from clinical and non-clinical operations.

Show positive interpersonal skills by effectively working with other project team members to find and resolve problems associated with a project's implementation.

Identify system and reporting roadblocks and effectively communicate with Epic domain specialists to resolve.

Responsible for writing fundamental documentation in a clear, concise manner, adhering to standards.

Receive and document formal report requests from customers for completeness, and if needed, work with customer to complete request and build out requested reports.

Serve as a leader and mentors less experienced Business Intelligence Developers.

Independently track project statuses and inform manager of escalations.

Translate business requirements into multiple data models.

Responsible for migration of existing reports to current Epic tools or other systems, as necessary.

Collaborate with stakeholders prioritizing demands, assessing requests to decide the best path to carry out the request (Epic tools or other reporting tools).

Maintain all relevant functional and technical documentation.

Collaborate with business subject matter experts, Business Intelligence Developers, and others to understand/find the opportunities to develop well-defined, integrated, re-usable data sets which power analytics.

Work independently and effectively manage time across multiple priorities and projects.

Make recommendations about platform adoption, including technology integrations, application servers, libraries, and frameworks.

Participate in a shared production on-call support model and be available for after-hours support as needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (e.g. BSN required, MSN preferred.):

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, IT, Business, or related field required. Epic related certifications may offset the degree requirement.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

2-3 years of experience in Microsoft T-SQL/ Epic Cogito/ Analytics development required, with at least 1 of those years in a healthcare-related employer

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Epic Certifications in Cogito as well as Clarity and Caboodle data models required or must be able to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Experience working with MS SQL server databases

Experience with data tools: SSIS, SSAS, sFTP, etc.

Experience with Reporting Workbench, Cogito SQL, SlicerDicer, Radar Dashboards

Experience working with Business Intelligence Tools (Business Objects) and Microsoft Power BI software.
