POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for collecting, cleansing, analyzing large data sets using statistical and visualization techniques, producing actionable insights for decision making, and developing dashboards to manage these. Provide analytical support in solving strategic and operational problems.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Identify business opportunities or expand ideas obtained from management in order to conceptualize and define and model operational problems to assess feasibility and impact
2. Identify performance improvement opportunities via data analysis and develop decision support tools to ensure most cost conscience, efficient use of company resources that supports service objectives
3. Develop concepts into business plans utilizing appropriate research techniques, methodologies, and experience and present them to senior management with recommendation for implementation 4. Perform extensive analysis of the problem, model, and resources available and alternative solutions
5. Develop and implement data collection systems from primary and secondary sources and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
6. Identify, analyze, interpret, and visualize trends or patterns in complex data sets
7. Builds dashboards, based on identified metrics, to support business decisions for both strategic and operational needs
8. Conducts statistical hypothesis testing, and proactive and predictive scenario analysis to evaluate outcomes of operational experiments
9. Support the evaluation of alternative systems or transportation networks employing financial, computer, geographic or operational models as appropriate
10. Assist with the preparation of decision analysis and reports for presentation to senior management
11. Research cutting edge technologies in support of the "best practices" in any transportation or network related question
12. Support model design and development via testing, validation, and evaluation of strategic proposals
13. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations as well as company policies/procedures
14. Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Math/Statistics, Computer Science, or related quantitative discipline with three (3) years' experience in engineering, statistics, forecasting, or data analysis.
  • Master's degree in a related quantitative field, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of building front-end dashboards using data visualization tools (Spotfire, Power BI, Tableau, and/or d3.js) required
  • Basic programming skills and ability to learn new languages, including but not limited to: Python, SQL, SAS
  • Basic Knowledge of statistical analysis for hypothesis testing and prediction (t-tests, ANOVA, regression, DOE, etc.) required
  • Basic knowledge of big data implementations (Spark and Hadoop)
  • Basic knowledge of relational database systems Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server, and Terradata
  • Basic knowledge of designing and building machine learning models, preferred
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) with experience using statistical software and reporting interfaces, data mining tools, machine learning techniques and data visualization
  • Analytical, problem solving, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
