The Enterprise Software Solutions department at Argonne National Laboratory invites you to work with the team supporting the Laboratory's central software and services. This position involves applying computer science to problem solving, analyzing requirements, and recommending and designing the means for meeting those requirements, either by revising existing systems or developing new ones.
The student will work in an agile team environment; exhibit effective collaboration and user interaction, and will maintain a professional work ethic and respect of team members and software users. The position requires learning agility, perseverance, and communication skills.
The position provides effective systems support across a broad range of technologies and applications; completes programming using languages and software products; designs and conducts tests; addresses the root causes of problems; and recommends long-term solutions.

Education and Experience Requirements
This opportunity is open to any undergraduate student with relevant experience who meets the following criteria:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident at the time of application.
- Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
- Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution and have completed two years of undergraduate academics in a business program.
- Major: Computer Science
- Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test.
- Knowledge of web-based programming languages and frameworks, preferably Java web application development, or similar
- Knowledge of software development life cycle, agile development, software testing and debugging
- Ability to understand and follow organizational best practices and standards
- Strong service orientation, demonstrated ability to work effectively in a customer-focused service environment
- Ability to have a user-oriented outlook
- Ability to be highly responsive and prioritize several diverse projects
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills including the ability to initiate and foster collaborative relationships
- Ability to produce secure, reliable, and extendable code
- Knowledge of relational databases and tools, is a plus
- Knowledge of Enterprise Linux platform and technologies, is a plus
