Project: Corporate Development
The Corporate Development Summer Intern will work with the Equity & Venture Capital Business Development team to support key equity processes, including managing the equity portfolio, and triage and evaluation of new investment opportunities covering TAs of interest to BMS (solid and liquid oncology; autoimmunity; heart failure; neurodegeneration; and digital health); experience in finance or one of these functions would be desirable. Students will gain a foundational knowledge of how the investing process is structured and ties into the overall Business Development processes at BMS.
This Strategy & Business Development internship program helps to identify potential future leaders for Bristol-Myers Squibb. Each intern will focus on a specific project and will receive exposure to one of our many functional groups. The program ensures associates gain valuable industry and functional experience, contribute meaningfully to teams through challenging assignments, learning opportunities, and networking with executives and other employees across the company. Interns gain experience in strategy and Business Development which they will use to make recommendations with real business impact.
Program Benefits
Our internship program offers accelerated career development opportunities, exposure to various business units and senior leaders, and hands-on experience and skill development which will prepare the intern for a career in strategy and pharmaceutical Business Development. Students participating in this program will be expected to lead or take ownership over one or more individual projects and provide deliverables at the end of the program.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Must be highly motivated and have a strong passion for healthcare and pharmaceuticals
  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in a scientific field, engineering, business, public health, finance, supply chain, STEM, human resources or a doctorate degree in Pharmacy, MBA or communications program
  • Must be available to work full-time for up to (10) consecutive weeks beginning in June of 2024
  • The ability to draw conclusions from complex situations, then recommend and execute a course of action in both a timely and decisive manner
  • Demonstrated leadership experience either through professional work or in a student, community, or professional organization
  • Demonstrate an ability to organize and present ideas in a convincing and compelling manner to a small or large audience
  • The ability to work autonomously in small or large teams, many of which are matrixed teams requiring strong partnership skills
  • Diverse thinking with innovative ideas and new approaches to maximize opportunities
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of MS office suite, including SharePoint
