The Energy Accelerator is looking for a highly motivated person to serve as a Financial Analyst - to assist in the analysis and commercialization of University energy technologies. Working directly with the Managing Director of the accelerator, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for researching, compiling, and analyzing information on the technologies and market conditions to identify opportunities, provide recommendations, and prepare business plans for Accelerator start ups. Strong analytical, research, financial modeling, due diligence, and critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to process and disseminate information effectively required.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in the review and prioritization of potential products and market opportunities. Coordinate with founding teams and the Managing Director to assist in developing commercialization strategy, business plans, financial models, and pitch decks.
  • Support Managing Director in preparing University Startups to pitch for angel, seed or venture capital including conducting research on target market size, industry trends and competitive analysis.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative market research to support informed economic decision-making.
  • Research and compile information related to market trends, product demand, customer demographics, existing competitors, pipeline technologies, market geography, and potential competitive advantages utilizing search engines, market databases, and other business research tools.
  • Summarize and analyze data with recommendations related to research findings.
  • Provide support in identifying related funding opportunities.
  • Obtain feedback from subject matter experts regarding opportunity potential and recommended development/strategy.
  • Communicate clearly with founders to ensure close coordination and informed decision making.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of experience in the field or in a related area required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Preferences
  • Six years of experience as a financial analyst preferred, or, in the energy sector.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts and methodologies into easily understood language.
  • Professional or technical writing experience a bonus. Experience analyzing market trends or new products preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in, Finance, Economics, Quantitative Analysis of Markets and Organizations or other business field preferred.
