The Business Analytics Intern collaborates with Finance and Commercial team members on financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis related to the company’s products.

Estimated starting hourly base rate is $21.04 to $25.25 less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Liaise with existing Commercial data team to access data and gain familiarity with existing reporting.
• Explore re-platforming and improving point of sale (POS) database (currently in MS Access).
• Replicate POS reporting currently done on one side of the business with the other side of business.
• Create a reporting tool for POS data that can provide access to a broader Finance/Commercial audience.
• Identify “data cleansing” opportunities and automation, when possible.
• Use statistical or other analytical/programming techniques to identify trends and correlations within Commercial data related to the company or competitors.
• Use statistical or other analytical/programming techniques to identify forecast errors, slow-moving inventory items, and other Commercial margin/volume opportunities.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• Completed or currently pursuing a degree in finance, business, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Outlook.
• Advanced experience with BI (Business Intelligence) tools.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

• Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal staff and management. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Must be able to demonstrate practical problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Preferred Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of Data Analysis technologies, techniques, and languages.
• MS Access experience.
• Thorough knowledge of Business Statistics.
• Prior professional experience in finance, commercial, manufacturing, and/or consumer packaged goods.
