Qualifications:

1. Ability to obtain CDL license with school bus and passenger endorsements by end of probation period.
2. Minimum of two years light and medium duty truck and automotive servicing equipment.
3. Working knowledge of air brake systems.
4. Working knowledge of diesel buses.
5. Ability to meet all school bus licensing requirements.
6. Mechanic supplies all basic hand tools.
7. Minimum age requirement - 18 years.
8. Must have good attendance record.

Physical Requirements:

1. Required prolonged sitting or standing
2. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials
3. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching

Additional Qualifications:

1. A complete physical examination yearly.
2. At least 5 years previous experience working with State Highway Patrol on bus inspections.
3. Gas and electric welding experience preferred.
4. Knowledge of bus construction as outlined in OAC/ORC.

Essenitial Duties and Responsibililties:
Diagnose bus and maintenance vehicle malfunctions and take necessary corrective action for example, but not
limited to:

1. Replace, adjust or make general repairs to: engines, timing gears, ignitions, brakes (including air brakes), clutches, bearings, differentials, magnetos, carburetors, starters and generators, fuel injection, throttle body,all phases of diesel engine repairs (pumps, injectors, timing, etc.).
2. Make minor repairs to bodies, fenders, re-work metal and painting.
3. Use a wide variety of standard instruments, checking devices and computerized diagnostic equipment.
4. Maintain a record of work performed.
5. Perform any and all other duties as assigned.
