Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain CDL license with school bus and passenger endorsements by end of probation period.
- Minimum of two years light and medium duty truck and automotive servicing equipment.
- Working knowledge of air brake systems.
- Working knowledge of diesel buses.
- Ability to meet all school bus licensing requirements.
- Mechanic supplies all basic hand tools.
- Minimum age requirement - 18 years.
- Must have good attendance record.
Physical Requirements:
- Required prolonged sitting or standing
- Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials
- Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching
- A complete physical examination yearly.
- At least 5 years previous experience working with State Highway Patrol on bus inspections.
- Gas and electric welding experience preferred.
- Knowledge of bus construction as outlined in OAC/ORC.
Diagnose bus and maintenance vehicle malfunctions and take necessary corrective action for example, but not
limited to:
- Replace, adjust or make general repairs to: engines, timing gears, ignitions, brakes (including air brakes), clutches, bearings, differentials, magnetos, carburetors, starters and generators, fuel injection, throttle body,all phases of diesel engine repairs (pumps, injectors, timing, etc.).
- Make minor repairs to bodies, fenders, re-work metal and painting.
- Use a wide variety of standard instruments, checking devices and computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Maintain a record of work performed.
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned.
