At the Y, we’re an association of like-minded people (staff, volunteers, and members), on the forefront of a movement to ensure that everyone - especially children - experience an equal opportunity to reach their full potential. In the course of a year, we provide more than 3,000 children, ages 6 weeks through Pre-K with high-quality literacy and STEAM-infused learning; give 58,000 youth and teens access to sports, aquatics, day and resident camps, teen leadership development programs, and employment opportunities; provide over 200,000 members with programs, services, and facilities to enjoy connection and maintain wellness regardless of age; and engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors from across Atlanta to share in the gift of supporting their communities.
Nature and Scope:
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Provide sound, caring and positive leadership for youth
- Recognize and implement safety standards during route.
- Have a good understanding of the mission and values of the Y and be able to demonstrate and teach from those values.
- Pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Pass a driving record check to drive for the Y.
- MUST Possess a Commercial Driver License (CDL).
- Attend the YMCA of Metro Atlanta defensive Driving Course.
- Attend staff training.
- CPR within 30 days of employment and maintain throughout employment.
- Must have own transportation to travel to assigned location.
- Must be available to work between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:30p.m., M-F
- Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).
- Be able to provide sound, caring and positive leadership for children
- Be able to recognize and implement safety standards during route.
- Pass a criminal background check and drug test using State of Georgia guidelines.
- Must be able to pass a driving record check to drive for the Y.
- Take daily attendance at the start of the program and during each transition
- Coordinate supply request with supervisor.
- Establish open lines of communication with school system staff.
- Assist in planning and implementing the program according YMCA and BFTS licensing guidelines.
- Must attend Bright From the Start, YMCA and other trainings as scheduled.
- Consult with the Director(s) on concerns related to student(s) development or behavior.
- Perform other duties as related to the delivery of a quality after-school program.
- Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility.
- Stay updated on current issues regarding Out of School programs.
- Promote, monitor, evaluate and ensure that all Out of School programs run smoothly with a high level of service to participants.
- Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Branch and off-site Emergency procedures and any other required certifications and/or training required by the Metro Atlanta YMCA.
- Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and its community.
- Responsible for maintaining and reporting incident/accident paperwork.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position must perform duties in accordance with the policies, goals, mission, values and objectives established by the Metropolitan Atlanta YMCA, Branch Strategic Plan, Safety Protocols Including COVID, and Member Services Guidelines and Non-Negotiables. Emphasis will be placed on member service, program knowledge, member/staff safety, and communication with members and staff.

- Implement wellness checks and provide a leadership role in ensuring member/staff adherence to the safety protocols, with a commitment to positive member and staff safety
