Position Summary: Interlochen Center for the Arts is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious School Bus Driver to join our team. The School Bus Driver will be responsible for driving a variety of vehicles, including buses, vans, and cars to transport students, faculty, guests, candidates, and performers around campus and to off-site locations. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of individuals within the Interlochen community. This position is a third shift position with normal working hours from 10 pm - 6 am five days a week. Some flexible scheduling depending on coverage needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safely operate various vehicles, adhering to traffic rules, regulations, and Interlochen's safety protocols.
Transport students, faculty, guests, candidates, and performers to and from designated locations, both on and off campus.
Ensure the comfort and safety of passengers, providing excellent customer service and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
Inspect vehicles regularly to ensure they are in proper working condition and report any maintenance issues.
Assist with loading and unloading luggage, equipment, and supplies as needed.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, and trip logs.
Adhere to schedules and routes, adjusting for traffic and weather conditions as necessary.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, colleagues, and passengers, providing timely updates and addressing any concerns.
Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of vehicles, both inside and out.
Follow Interlochen's guidelines for handling emergencies and incidents during transportation.
Collaborate with the Transportation team to optimize route efficiency and provide input on operational improvements.
Adhere to a flexible work schedule as transportation needs may vary.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to adapt to changing schedules, weather conditions, and transportation needs.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Outstanding communication and customer service skills.

Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a standard office and school bus with extensive internal and external stakeholder contact.
Education: High School Education or GED required.
Experience:
3 years of bus driving experience required, 5 years of bus driving experience preferred.
Prior experience in transportation in a school or campus setting, is preferred.
Equipment Familiarity:
Familiar with Mac Laptop, Google Suite, MS Office Suites preferred.
Certifications, Licenses or Special Training:
CDL-B driver's license with Passenger and School Bus endorsement is required.
Valid driver's license required as well as ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.
Excellent driving record and strong understanding of traffic rules and regulations required.
Must be able to pass a drug and background check as well as a DOT physical.
Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for as detailed in policy 12.HR.01 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge to address minor issues.
Ability to follow and execute specific verbal and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
