Job Duties
This is a wage position with no state benefits. Position is available immediately.
Responsibilities include:
- Provides bus transportation for students to/from their homes as well as off-campus activities
- Provides preventative maintenance to assigned VSDB vehicles
- Assists with student training on school bus safety practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, General Education Development (GED) Certificate or equivalent amount of training and experience preferred
- Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement and driving record that reflects a sense of responsibility for highway and passenger safety
- Proficiency level of “Survival" in American Sign Language as measured by the Sign Communication Proficiency Interview or agreement to acquire the specified level within three years.
- Experience in the operation of a minimum 38 passenger bus
- Certification in CPR/First Aid or must obtain following school policy
- Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of vehicles, and associated safety practices
- Sufficient knowledge of State driving laws and the use of road maps to transport children in a safe and timely manner
- Ability to work various shifts during emergencies and/or agency needs to include weekends and holidays as available.
- Ability to follow school policies and procedures
Additional Considerations
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motion to include standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, walking, bending, and climbing
- Ability to tolerate various chemicals and weather conditions
