Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is a multi-campus institution with vibrant, urban campuses in Boston, Massachusetts, in nearby Chelsea, Massachusetts, and at several satellites and instructional sites throughout the Greater Boston area. Job Description:
BHCC is piloting a supplemental instruction model in some Gateway/challenging STEM courses. If you are a STEM student or recent grad and want to tutor your Community College peers, consider this job opportunity below!
Bulldog PALs Leaders will:
- Attend class meeting times as appropriate (PALs may attend to assist in laboratories, attend remote synchronous or in person classes).
- Communicate regularly with section faculty member.
- Model appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors to staff, faculty and students.
- Communicate student concerns and student referrals to other services with the appropriate Directors or Deans.
- Plan and facilitate two study sessions per week either directly before or after class (or depending on the availability of students enrolled in the course) and respond to small group study session requests as available.
- Assist students in the development of appropriate time management and study skills to promote academic success.
- Track student attendance and upload study session plans to blackboard each week .
- Assist students in locating and submitting assignments for class (via Moodle or other technology platform).
- Provide support to students through Moodle, via email, or through on-campus meetings.
- Provide student success tips for best ways to communicate with professors.
- Aide in students' understanding of course expectations.
- Distribute, collect, and return various Bulldog PAL-related surveys.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Recent community college experience
Additional Information:
Salary: $18.50/hr @ 11hrs/wk
