Job Overview
We are seeking a summer intern that is passionate about design and sustainability. This individual will report to Quinn Evans's Director of Sustainability and provide research, building analysis, and performance models to aid design decisions on Quinn Evans projects and support firmwide sustainability and Building Performance initiatives. Internship may be located out of our Washington D.C., Baltimore, Ann Arbor, Detroit, or Richmond Offices.
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Building Science
- Experience in the following programs is desired, but not required or expected in all:
- Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Insight, Rhino and associated plug-ins: Grasshopper / Ladybug / Honeybee.
- Climate Studio, Tally, Athena, Therm, Tableau, Power BI
- Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Affinity Suite
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
- Attention to detail, creative thinker, and well-organized
- Collaborative problem-solving skills with a professional work ethic
Potential 2024 Summer Projects
The summer intern projects will be identified at the start of the internship and consider current QE project and initiative needs and the candidate's interests and capabilities.
- Provide embodied carbon analysis and calculations to quantify the value of building reuse and strategies to reduce embodied carbon in material selections.
- Support a cross-office materials initiative. Work with QE sustainability and practice area leaders to support research and develop a method to catalog and track materials with health and wellness attributes.
- Support post-occupancy evaluation initiatives.
- Support a research-based circadian lighting design project.
