This is the perfect time to join our large and growing real estate company as Building Maintenance / Handyman in a luxury, renovated complex conveniently located in Irvington, New Jersey. This is an immediate opening at one of the premier multifamily properties in Essex County.
Under the direction of the Property Manager, the Building Maintenance / Handyman will perform repair requests and respond within prescribed guidelines; coordinate the completion of repairs and close out work orders in accordance with established procedures; and assist with the turnover of apartments, and upkeep of entire complex.
Your days will be full, fast paced, and challenging. You will have the full support of our centralized operations team including Assistant Facility Manager(s), Maintenance Coordinators. Additional support and coordination come from our in-house engineering (Boilers/HVAC), Electronic Security (CCTV/Access Control), and Construction (Capex) teams.
Preferred Skills of Building Maintenance / Handyman:
- A successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years hands on experience with plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, and general maintenance, at least 3 years in a supervisory position, and 1-2 years engineering experience.
- Strong mechanical background in troubleshooting gas and oil burners, electrical and electronic heating controls, steam distribution systems, hydronics systems, instantaneous hot water, feedwater, and vacuum tank systems.
- Manage multiple priorities and demands; analyze situations and identify problems and offer solutions.
- Experience with a property management software and Excel
- Highly motivated, versatile and dedicated
- Ability to work independently, with strong skills in personal motivation
- Excellent skills in customer relationship management
- Capacity to learn in a changing and technological environment.
- Experience with the repairs, maintenance, upkeep and replacement of laundry machines including but not limited to the operation, maintenance, repair or replacement of the property's laundry equipment and systems, which include:
- Replacement of belts
- Preventative Maintenance
- Replacement of water pumps
- Perform plumbing service, including but not limited to, the operation, maintenance, repair or replacement of the property's plumbing equipment and systems.
- Must have plumbing, electrical, and mechanical background.
Compensation and Benefits for Building Maintenance / Handyman:
Salary will be commensurate to level of experience with a range of $29 - $39.50 per hour ($60,320 - $82,160 annual salary).
