JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: General Custodian
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations & Lead Manager
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A person working in this classification must have the ability to operate all types of cleaning equipment including floor scrubbers/polishers, vacuums, etc.
2. Must have the ability to take direction from the lead manager and be able to work/communicate with others.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable time and work year may vary based on department or building assignment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Perform custodial duties: cleaning as noted above, includes bathrooms, break rooms, locker rooms, hallways, entryways, gymnasiums, weight rooms, and other areas of a facility including exterior grounds.
● Interact with and assist students, staff, visitors and groups during and after regular school hours to ensure needs are met regarding building use.
● Maintain and make minor repairs to the facility and troubleshoot and report areas requiring maintenance to the supervisor. Notify the building supervisor of hazardous or harmful situations.
● Secure facility by locking doors and windows. Monitor building security throughout the shift.
● Report supply and equipment needs to the immediate supervisor. Perform daily preventative maintenance of site custodial equipment.
● Remove snow and ice from sidewalks as needed to ensure safe egress to and from the building.
● Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
● Perform special cleaning and assist with renovation projects. Operate large cleaning equipment and assist with floor maintenance and restoration as needed.
● Ensure proper use, identification, mixture and application of chemicals, including the requirements and use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
● All other duties as assigned.
