- 60 college credit hours or associate degree required
- Experience working with students preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist students with disabilities according to their individualized needs
- Assist in managing the behavior of students
- Keep the administrators and teachers informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
- Maintain confidentiality of information about children and their families in accordance with board policy and law
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as requested by administration
- Work with students individually or in small groups
- Follow instructions from teachers and administrators
- Provide assistance and guidance of routines to a substitute in a teacher's absence
- Work the number of days and hours specified when employed by the board; hours worked exclude lunch
- Help supervise arrival and departure of students as needed
- Help supervise students during lunch and recess as needed
- Accompany students to special subjects such as music, physical education, art, and library as needed
- Assist as classroom aide, computer lab aide, library aide, and secretary as needed
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
