Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Budtender/Fulfillment Associates are the first and last person our customers will interact with when they enter and leave the store. We expect exceptional customer service in every customer interaction. Budtender/Fulfillment Associates are responsible for assessing the needs of the customer and educating/guiding them in selecting the appropriate cannabis products to meet their needs. Budtender/Fulfillment Associates embody the 'customer first' approach, while ensuring high levels of satisfaction through excellent service. A successful Budtender/Fulfillment Associate will be able to elevate company standards, achieve sales goals, provide excellent product suggestions and guidance, assist with fulfillment, and exceed the customer’s expectations. Budtender/Fulfillment Associates are expected to inspire customer confidence within the Zacate brand by assuring the clients have excellent experiences with first class customer service. Budtender/Fulfillment Associates are responsible for receiving a client with a positive attitude, offering our loyalty program, listening to the customer’s needs, educating them on what will work for their needs, offering new products that are new to the market, operating the POS, managing money at the POS, and being a team member with cleaning and organizing throughout the store. Budtender/Fulfillment Associates will learn all aspects of dispensary operations, from greeting, to running a POS, to fulfillment.


Budtender/Fulfillment Associates will also work within the Vault & Fulfillment Storage Areas and help manage inventory, assist with receiving products, and operate the area where cannabis products will be delivered to other Budtender/Fulfillment Associates to complete transactions. Budtender/Fulfillment Associates, may receive and verify the quality of the product from our vendors and ensure the validity of every delivery, and will label all products when delivered. It is important that Budtender/Fulfillment Associates understand that being part of the back of house, one’s job is to increase customers’ confidence within Zacate by providing quality products and fulfilling customers’ orders accurately. Budtender/Fulfillment Associates will Grow with Zacate by providing excellent product inventory and delivering a quality product while being an honest team player.


Responsibilities

  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of all products, of the cannabis industry, and of any relevant cannabis-related subject matter.
  • Read industry publications to keep up to date on current/future trends in the industry.
  • Be knowledgeable of all specials or promotions, including in-store weekly/daily deals.
  • Participate in staff events, outings, and promotional events.
  • Ensure you are early or on-time for all shifts and any mandatory events or meetings.
  • Ensure your appearance is clean and that you are prepared for your scheduled shift.
  • Ensure POS stations are ready to go at the store opening.
  • Always maintain fully stocked and clean POS stations.
  • Ensure Budtender opening and closing checklists are completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintains strict inventory controls to ensure full, comprehensive regulatory compliance across all dispensary operations.
  • Participate in periodic staff meetings.
  • Always maintain proper cash handling procedures.
  • Ensure all customers are greeted as they arrive and wish farewell at their departure.
  • Ensure all customers receive excellent customer service, in every interaction.
  • Inform management and supervisors of any low-stock product or other inventory issues.
  • Ensure each customer receives your full attention during the entire interaction.
  • Sort, label, stock and perform inventory audits for all products.
  • Process orders and ensure all information is complete and accurate.
  • Comply with all security measures and quality standards.
  • Maintaining with all side work that will include stocking product, organizing products, and cleaning back of house Vault & Fulfillment Storage Areas.
  • Being a team member will assist with side work, stocking, and cleaning, customer areas, breakroom, customer/employee restrooms, disposing of trash and sanitizing work/common spaces during all downtime.
  • Perform other duties or projects, as assigned by managers.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of customer service experience; preference for candidates with specialty, customer-facing retail experience.
  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Consistent demonstration of excellent customer service skills.
  • Previous experience with POS systems.
  • Previous experience training new employees is a huge plus.
  • Retail inventory experience is a plus.
  • Cannabis industry experience is a HUGE plus.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Desire to continuously learn (more) about cannabis, cannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system, and cannabis therapies - previous knowledge is a HUGE plus!
  • Ability to listen well and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with various audiences.
  • Ability to work well in teams and with others.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications and email.
  • Understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives, and standard operating procedures.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must pass all required background checks to obtain Cannabis Business Identification Card from the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission.
  • Possess valid driver's license or state ID.
  • Remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 30 pounds (100 pounds with assistance), may include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or down.
