The Budget Data Analyst oversees data management, data analytics, data governance and ensures data quality. This position works with agencies and budget analysts to create, maintain, and implement the data elements that make up the budget.
What is this career opportunity?
We are hiring a Budget Data Analyst to join the Governor's Office of Budget and Program Planning. You will work alongside the Budget and Revenue Analysts and report directly to the Deputy Budget Director. This role is focused on the budget development and budget implementation processes. Examples of specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Act as the lead for management and oversight of the state's budgeting software, called IBARS;
Compile and validate data from different tables and sources;
Run data maintenance procedures to ensure agencies are correctly building/implementing their budget;
Using tools like tableau and data presentation tools to present data to end users;
Analyzing submitted user data for accuracy;
Update, implement, and maintain procedures;
Design custom queries using SQL;
Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and end users;
Conduct IBARS training; and
Work with office data team on other projects as assigned.

Qualifications
What are we looking for?
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field; and
- Four years of relevant experience; OR
- Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- A thorough understanding of state budgeting/accounting
- Knowledge of SQL or similar query language
- Specific experience performing system analysis work in a professional setting.
