How you'll make an impact
The Associate Actuary provides actuarial services on terminated pension plans for the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). Works on a variety of client service projects under the supervision of more experienced consultants and with the appropriate contact with PBGC. These services include actuarial valuations, plan administration, and special projects, all at the level appropriate to the individual's knowledge and experience. The primary focus at the Associate level is "Do" the work efficiently and effectively, with an eye towards improving processes.
- Handles the preparation of valuation data. Includes reviewing data in both paper source and e-source from PBGC
- Review benefit calculations prepared by plan administrators
- Prepare benefit calculations and benefit statements
- Assist in preparing actuarial valuation reports
- Special projects or assignments as instructed by your supervisor/manager
- Helps the team by drafting email correspondence by creating effective communications and takes care of filing and storing correspondence that is ultimately sent
About you
- Math, actuarial science or economics degree or equivalent preferred
- 3.0 grade-point average preferred
- Preferred to have passed one SOA exam
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to grasp and familiarize oneself with actuarial terms and concepts
- Strong math and computer skills
- Superior attention to detail and organization skills
- Ability to work on a team
