Coastal Home-Based Services
Home-based services provide intensive family clinical support in the home and community. In-Home Therapy Services (IHT) is a structured, consistent, strength-based therapeutic intervention that includes improving the family's ability to provide effective support for the youth to promote his/her healthy functioning within the family. Interventions are designed to enhance and improve the family's capacity to improve the youth's functioning in the home and community and may prevent the need for the youth's admission to an inpatient hospital, psychiatric residential treatment facility, or other treatment setting.
Plymouth Home-based Services
Home-based services provide intensive family clinical support to families with children who are struggling with their mental health, in the home and community.
Community Justice Support Center
This program provides intensive rehabilitative services to individuals who have been referred from the local courts, through probation/ parole, or returning citizens who choose to attend on a voluntary basis, and provides educational, career, and clinical supports.
Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic
You will work with a team comprised of a psychiatrist, Nurse Practitioner, Nurses, Clinicians, and recovery coaches to implement the Best Practice Model to individuals with Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) and Behavioral Heal needs. Training Opportunities: Diagnostic Assessments, Individual Therapy and Group Treatment (Population - Adults and young adults with Substance Use Disorders). This is a Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) funded National Initiative to provide comprehensive services.
Family Resource Center(s)
The Family Resource Centers in Quincy and Plymouth provide immediate support to youth and families that need resources, referrals and emergency clinical supports. Training Opportunities: Complete assessments, develop service plans, work with courts and state systems to provide resources and supports for youth and families. (Population - Children and Families)
DMH Flex Services
The Flexible Support Services (FLEX) program assists families and youth in developing the skills and supports that promote family cohesion and successful community living. This service strengthens the family by successfully engaging the youth and family in focused interventions and therapeutic behavioral supports that enhance youth and family's communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, and limit setting skills; increase effective patterns of family interaction
C.R.E.W Adolescent Afterschool Program
The BSCS CREW program offers a structured, year-round therapeutic after school day program that is a strength based, recovery focused that is designed to meet the emotional and behavioral health needs of children and adolescents ages 6 through 18. How long a youth participates in the program is based on his/her/they individual goals.
Prevention Services
The Prevention Department at Bay State Community Services manages several community based prevention grants, funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and other government agencies, in the areas of youth substance use prevention, tobacco prevention, and overdose prevention. We work with community partners to promote health and well-being through local policy, practice, systems, and/or environmental changes. We strive to apply a racial equity and social justice lens throughout our work. Our team works to build relationships with community partners, conduct needs assessments and develop strategic plans, implement programs and social marketing campaigns, and conduct evaluations.
Potential interns could be skilled in the following areas: community organizing and engagement, community health, public health or macro social work, racial equity and social justice, health communications, and evaluation.
MA Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR)
MOAR is the statewide face of recovery offering educational and advocacy opportunities.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, and Human Services required
Strong Computer Skills
Experience with systems (e.g. DMH, EEC, DCF) preferred but not required
Experience working with youth and families
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Additional skills with spoken and written languages are desirable
Ability to work a flexible schedule
