What you will be doing
POSITION SUMMARY: Requires the management of customs compliance in accordance with the US Customs Regulations at the local port and customs entry level. Orchestrate the day to day brokerage workflow to meet our daily goals. Position requires the associate to hold a valid Customs Brokerage License.

Reports to: World Customs Brokerage Manager
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain reasonable supervision over customs business at the local port level
• Local Daily Duty statement processing, and un-billed report
• Delegating work assignments to team as needed and to support the workflow
• Maintain client and department SOP. Updating client specific instructions in our software and implement, revise and enforce procedures in accordance with the customs regulations
• Run designated reports to follow up and address jobs pending release or further actions to facilitate release from customs and participating government agencies due to clearance delays, holds, census warning and or rejections
• Respond to inquiries from colleagues, clients, and other offices, regarding regulations pertaining to imports/exports affecting the United States
• Liaising between US Customs, PGA and clients for inquiries pertaining to admissibility
• Ability to research regulatory requirements as needed to support compliance
• Support and assist sales with business development
• Full knowledge and ability to file all entry types and address all government agency requirements until fully released.
• Full knowledge and ability to respond to inquiries for authorization to ship to USA
• Monitoring high profile shipments and clients for required actions and expectations
• Rating shipments (using the US Harmonized Tariff code book) for Customs clearance. Full understanding the FDA product builder, supplemental guide, and USDA and USFW required ACE data elements.
• Processing and oversight of our internal auditing process at the local level. Tracking trends, cancelation, post summary corrections and prior disclosures for root caused analysis.
• Keep track of performance stats and implement re-training documents when necessary
• Strict adherence to company SOP, Work Instructions, Ops Memo and Guidelines.
• Must stay current on all Customs and PGA regulations

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Licensed Customs House Brokers between 5-7 years: Maintain Customs License for duration of employment with World Courier
• Brokers must maintain a valid Certified Customs Specialist certificate (CCS) and must obtain the required 20 point for renewal each year
• In depth knowledge of the ACE system and entry process

• Communicate professionally with internal and external clients via phone and e-mail regarding the status of their shipments
• Demonstrate ability to develop and cultivate strong relationships with US customs, DEA, USDA, FDA, CDC and US Fish and Wildlife

• Understand Incoterms
• Attention to detail

• Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and other WC offices
• Flexibility with schedule, as WC is a 24-hour operation

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

$70,400 - 100,650
*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
