Duties and Responsibilities
This unique position supports NASA's SRACES contract with Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. The opportunity of a lifetime, the person in this position will be part of the nation's space program and support Artemis activities as we return humans to the moon and support future exploration of our world and the universe beyond!
The person in this position will be part of a dynamic team with general responsibility for Broadcast Engineering in the Marshall Space Flight Center TV studio and off-site locations.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing, installing, operating, and maintaining broadcast, streaming, and digital archiving equipment and systems
- Working with architecture teams and customers to develop and implement solution designs
- Working with operations and support teams to provide direction/support, streamline processes, maximize efficiencies, and enhance user experience
- Participating in the development and maintenance of standards and product/technology road maps
- Monitoring broadcast signals and operating broadcast video and audio production systems
- Individual must also maintain in-depth technical and business knowledge of industry trends and tools
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or other appropriate area of specialization OR
- Five (5) years of directly related experience
- Proficient in:
- advanced oral and written communications;
- advanced problem solving; and
- IT environments work with complex audio/video technology and managing or supporting projects.
- Prefer familiarity with SMPTE standards for base band video applications
- Prefer experience with CAD applications
- Prefer experience with installations of base band audio and visual equipment for a broadcast facility
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in a standard office or conference room setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer.
To visit other company sites, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle and fly in an aircraft, both of which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time. Employees must possess vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas will be required. This position requires an employee to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance; reach, push, and pull drawers and doors open and closed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
