Job Description

VK Brewing Co. & Eatery is growing and looking for a Brewer/Assistant Brewer to help produce great, locally brewed, craft beer for our customers. We are looking for someone who enjoys beer, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic, who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty and can have a good time while doing it.

The Brewer/Assistant Brewer position requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for craft beer production. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining brewing equipment while ensuring product quality and adherence to food safety standards. This role also involves collaborating with the team to develop new beer recipes. Duties & Responsibilities

· Production of wort including milling, mashing, boiling, fermenting, and cleaning the brew house.

· Prepare brewing ingredients for brew day.

· Follow schedules for brewery tasks including: brewing beer, dry hopping, transferring, monitoring fermentation, carbonating and kegging beer.

· Maintaining accurate brewers/production logs.

· Brewery cleaning & maintenance.

· Sanitization of all brewing equipment and facility.

· Interact with customers and represent brewery in a positive manner.

· Participate in offsite events and festivals.

· Report any equipment problems and maintenance issues to the head brewer.

· Track inventory of equipment and supplies.

· Assist the restocking and replenishment of equipment and supplies.

· Ensure all beers are made in adherence to standardized operating procedures.

· Assist our restaurant staff in understanding our beers.

· Complete any other tasks or duties assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements

· Be at least 21 years of age.

· Personable, positive attitude, honest, reliable, responsible.

· Basic knowledge of brewing and related processes. Prior experience not required but desired.

· Possess basic math skills.

· Strong communication skills, competent at following directions, and able to adapt to changes in the work environment.

· Capability to understand, follow, maintain and improve SOPs.

· Ability to work independently and be resourceful; prioritize and complete multiple projects and responsibilities.

· The ability to keep a clean, safe, organized, and efficient brewery throughout the entire workday. We’re looking for “tour ready” at the end of the workday.

· Willingness to continue to learn and develop expertise in the brewery and take on new responsibilities.

· The ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays, as needed.

· A reliable mode of transportation and the ability to arrive to work on time.

· The flexible schedule to accommodate the demands of production.

· Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the brewery.

· Basic knowledge of food and workplace safety.

· Basic knowledge of chemical handling and safety.

· Must be neat and understand the necessity of organization and cleanliness in a brewery environment.

· Able to physically execute the daily requirements of brewing including the ability to lift up to 55 pounds and move up to 165 pounds.

· Able to twist, turn, stoop/bend, and to work in standing/walking positions for long periods of time.

· Ability to record all brew house information accurately and legibly.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
