Work Location: This position will be based at our Columbia, MO location

Hours: 40 hours per week, including Saturday rotation

Job Purpose: Customer service representatives respond to customer inquiries via telephone and face-to-face meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Multi-faceted responsibilities range from cash handling and basic transactions to product and service sales, and referrals to other lines of business. Primary skills include key product knowledge, relationship building, customer service and referrals.
  • Provide oversight and direction to branch employees in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
  • Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
  • Has responsibility for training of department personnel; reviewing and evaluation performance; and recommending salary adjustments, promotions, discharges and other personnel-related actions.
  • Develop and maintain customer relations, provide exceptional customer service, maintain bank’s cash with accuracy and security.
  • Assist customers with routine account-related requests such as: funds transfers, automatic funds transfers, stop payments, inquiries about bank deposit products and service charges, inquiries about debit card usage and limits, inquiries about checking and savings accounts transactions, inquiries about funds availability, and check verification requests by third parties.
  • Verify information on ATM/debit card applications to the information in customer database.
  • Send exceptions to personal banking counselors for corrections.
  • Assist customers with all aspects of debit cards.
  • Places holds on accounts for uncollected funds, distribute documentation to customers and properly log.
  • Monitor and balance cash vault on a weekly basis and maintain dual control for safekeeping access.
  • Distribute to customers and properly log all “hold statements” and check orders held by the bank.
  • Escort appropriate bank personnel into the vault and maintain dual control for safekeeping access and official check and ATM card requisition.
  • Process lockbox payments, including deposit preparation and daily report transmission.
  • Maintain the bank’s files for currency transaction reports, customer safekeeping receipts, loan and trust collateral receipts, commercial resolutions, powers of attorney, court orders, levies, miscellaneous deposit documentation and general correspondence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or similar area is useful but not required.
  • Three to five years cash handling experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
