We are hiring a Brake Systems Lead Project Engineerto join our team in Lisle, IL. The Brakes Systems Engineering team is responsible for the entire design development and ownership across all truck and bus model platforms of brakes systems including foundation brakes and wheel ends, brake controls and actuation, air charging, treatment and pneumatics, hydraulic brakes, parking brake and driver control modules.
The purpose of this position is to be a lead brakes system Project Engineer with an expertise in one or multiple of the aforementioned Brake Systems. You will be a leader of product development programs and be intimately involved with developing strategies for next generation Brake Systems to meet existing and new North American and Global market requirements.
Responsibilities- Develop detailed system and component level requirements and cascade to suppliers and interfacing teams
- Understand North American and Global requirements and interpret to system and component requirements
- Create, review, and update standard processes
- Partner with Product Validation to determine appropriate test activities and acceptance criteria to validate vehicle Braking performance
- Review designs for completeness and accuracy
- Mentor engineers on the technical challenges of designing Brake Systems.
- Develop best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
OR
- Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
OR
- PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. - Deep technical, design and validation knowledge of one or multiple Brake systems including foundation brakes and wheel ends, brake controls and actuation, air charging, treatment and pneumatics, hydraulic brakes and driver control modules
- Expertise with commercial vehicle Brake systems
- Deep knowledge of engineering quality disciplines such as APQP, DFMEA, etc.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing technical problems and solutions to executive level leadership in a clear and concise manner
- Extensive understanding of truck applications and associated product requirements
- Understanding of Mechatronic, Electric and Autonomous Vehicle systems
- Strong process orientation experience
- High level of computer literacy
Highly preferred:Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology
