This position is responsible to pick up and deliver general and special freight in liquid, solid, loose, or packaged form.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
- Conducts thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles being operated, in accordance with established company policies and procedures, reporting discrepancies immediately
- Load/unload trucks and containers, lift materials, and identify, label, count, receive, and issue materials
- Ensure that cargo is secured for transport in accordance will all applicable local, state, and federal laws
- Operates a Box Truck in order to pick up and deliver customer freight in a variety of locations. Will prepare documents for pick-ups and enter into PeopleNet.
- Pack and/or ship materials in compliance with DOT and hazardous materials regulations
- Maintain good housekeeping standards with focus on the care and custody of materials
- Prioritize and complete day-to-day activities as assigned
- Maintain telephone or PeopleNet contact with terminal dispatcher/warehouse to receive instructions
- May be required to perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, light bulbs, tire chains
- All other duties as assigned
- High school diploma, or GED equivalent
- Two to three years driving experience required
- CDL Class B with no restrictions required
- Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
- Follows instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibility for own actions, completes tasks on time or communicates alternate plans
- Treats people with respect; keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational values
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy
- Must be customer focused and represent Carlile in a professional and friendly manner
- Should have a mechanical background aptitude
- Must be able to prioritize daily tasks and assignments
- Must be able to multitask and have excellent time management skills
- Must be able to drive in adverse weather conditions and in ice and snow, with the ability to chain-up
- Experience with lift gates, forklifts, and pallet jacks, preferred, etc
- Previous material handling and HAZMAT experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions (extreme cold and inclement conditions – snow, ice, rain, wind, etc.). The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vehicle vibration. May also be exposed to long periods of isolation time while driving or resting.
