Job description

The Shubert Organization is America’s oldest professional theatre company and the largest theatre owner on Broadway. Since the dawn of the 20th century, Shubert has operated hundreds of theatres and produced hundreds of plays and musicals both in New York City and throughout the United States. Shubert currently owns and operates 17 Broadway theatres, six off-Broadway theatres, and the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia.

Shubert delivers innovative ticketing solutions via its Telecharge, API distribution, and private-label technology, offering unparalleled distribution and marketing to the theatre industry and beyond. Its consumer-facing brands – Telecharge for retail ticket sales and Broadway Inbound for tour operators and the travel industry – sell millions of tickets each year.

Title: Box Office Treasurer, Stage 42


Salary: $25/hour, depending on experience and skills

Work Schedule: Mon 12-8pm, Wed 12-8pm, Thu 12-8:30pm, Fri 12-8:30pm, Sat 1:30-8:30pm. (40 hours total). Work schedule will vary depending upon performances. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including holidays when necessary.

Reports to: Operations Manager, Off Broadway Theatres


Essential Functions will include, but not be limited to:

  • Maintaining a hospitable and efficient Box Office
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Box Office
  • Setting up Box Office systems and procedures for each new production
  • Selling and distributing tickets
  • Generating reports and data on ticket sales as requested
  • Responding to all group sales and broker requests
  • Reviewing, modifying and complying with scheduled seat holds
  • Adhering to all Box Office auditing requirements
  • Training, scheduling, and submitting payroll for Box Office assistants.

Qualifications Required:

  • Good client/customer service skills.
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Strong math skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • At least 2 years of professional Box Office experience
  • Knowledge of ticketing norms and practices
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Experience with the STAR ticketing system
  • Experience leading a team
