Bookseller/Customer Service

We are opening a new Books Inc. bookstore in San Leandro, CA! Come join the oldest independent bookseller on the West Coast and take part in the excitement of opening a brand new bookstore!

We are currently looking for a enthusiastic, hardworking booksellers to staff the new store in both full-time and part-time roles with flexible availability, including both weekdays and weekends.

Applicants must have superior customer service skills and a love for books. Bookstore or book industry experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities include recommending books, shelving, cashiering, merchandising and pulling old stock. Our ideal candidate is someone who loves to read and talk about books, can offer friendly customer service, and enjoys working as part of a team. We are looking for someone who can start soon.

The new Books Inc. San Leandro location, which will be part of our new central office and warehouse, is currently under construction and will likely open towards the end of August. New hires will begin their training at nearby Books Inc. locations in Alameda or Berkeley before transitioning to the San Leandro location. Staff will also assist in moving into the new store, merchandising product and getting the bookstore ready for the Grand Opening. Once the San Leadnro store is open, it will become the permanent work location for all staff hired for these positions.

Wage: $16.00/hr. Includes medical, dental, vision, 401k option, and great discounts on books!
