A strong candidate for this position will have management and bookkeeping experience working with multiple companies, payroll and/or tax knowledge. Our desired candidate will have advanced experience with QuickBooks, demonstrate professionalism in communications with a diversity of individuals, strong organizational and time management skills, acute attention to detail and ability to work well with clients and team members.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ bookkeeping experience
- College level accounting courses, 2-year degree or work experience equivalent
- Working knowledge of computerized software and Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Advanced understanding of the balance sheet and profit and loss statement
- Ability to manage multiple projects for different types of clients, in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
- Ability to work with different personalities and be a team-player
- Professional, dependable, accurate, fast-learner, acute attention to detail, motivated self- starter
- Work well with minimal supervision
- Flexibility in working varied hours as needed
- Ability to handle stress associated with deadlines and work volume
- Prior public accounting experience preferred
- Income tax experience is a plus
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervise bookkeeping staff
- Assessing, creating and enhancing departmental controls, systems and practices to improve accuracy and productivity
- Ensuring proper and timely completion of month-end and year-end reporting
- Checking financial statements for compliance with corporate laws and requirements
- Take part in reconciliations and audits as necessary
- Perform monthly account reconciliations
- Demonstrate knowledge of the general ledger and make journal entries
- Help clients with tasks and issues that arise in the accounting function of their business
- Create and track classes in QuickBooks
- Make adjusting entries where necessary and as advised by managing accountant
- Maintain financial security by following internal controls
- Record payroll and monitor payroll taxes for clients
- Process sales tax reports and payments for clients
