Boat Chef/Steward

*This is a SEASONAL boat based position

*Must complete requested job skills tests as well as recorded phone interview questions for application to be considered

Chef/steward on 60 foot vessel for 5 day fishing, and sightseeing trips based out of Sitka, Alaska. Prepare meals/snacks for 2-6 clients & crew + light steward duties. Must be willing to help out wherever needed. This is a family business, applicant should be comfortable with children onboard as well as hunting/fishing lodge atmosphere.
You don't need to be a professionally trained chef but you should be comfortable preparing a diverse menu at a high standard while accommodating any dietary restrictions/preferences that the clients may have.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

* Plan varied creative menus and maintain budgeted meal costs

* Ensure that all safe food handling practices are strictly followed

* Responsible for communicating with captain, crew, guests, kids, and a dog

* Prepare food and supply orders for galley and manage inventory

* Promote and maintain galley rules to enhance comfort and cleanliness

* Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service at all times

* Perform basic Steward duties as needed with a positive attitude

* Assist on deck & on the dock as needed

* Appreciate free room and board (sometimes shared stateroom)

* Must be comfortable around people of all ages

*Clean current driving record

*Sense of humor, physical strength & agility

* Able to plan and prepare three daily meals for 5-12 people

* Creativity, ability to improvise, and good time management

* Ideally 3 years of experience working onboard vessels

* Maintain good personal hygiene and appearance

*Experience, knowledge, and interest in Southeast Alaska

* Ability to pass pre employment as well as random drug test

* Able bodied and comfortable working long hours

* Available late May through at least late September

*No alcohol while onboard the vessel & no smoking or tobacco products of any kind
