ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a full-time Heat Treat Technician to perform duties to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve heat treating machine issues.
Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to several elements continuously present including heat, dirt, grease, oils, fluids and noise.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Work from instructions, prints, process specifications and schematics.
- Analyze and trouble shoot process variables on all equipment.
- Maintain and calibrate all gauging and temperature control devices and the probes on the carburizing furnaces.
- Perform analysis and control for all carburizing operations.
- Maintain coolant levels and temperatures.
- Perform product inspections daily.
- Complete, analyze and process variables and make appropriate process adjustments.
- Perform maintenance as necessary.
- Maintain process control specifications for all equipment in the department.
- Use various electronic and manual gauging, calibration equipment, and hand tools.
- Perform necessary recordkeeping and paperwork.
- Assign, check and delegate heat treat overload work to operators on their shift.
- Help train and assist operators as required.
- Perform necessary preventative maintenance on machines as required.
- Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
- Use various testing devices and chemicals according to appropriated guidelines and procedures.
- Perform material handling activities using equipment, including forklifts, according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
- Understand and performs ISO 14001 work instructions as identified in, “ISO 14001 Work Instruction Assignments”.
- Follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition.
- Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
- Be responsible and accountable for the professional use of assigned work periods, machinery, equipment and tools.
- Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Lead responsibility for checking, assigning and delegating work for up to 10 subordinate operators on a single shift. No responsibility for hiring, firing or discipline.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Must successfully complete the pre-hire math test.
Minimum 3 years as a machine operator in the heat-treating area.
Demonstrate analytical and troubleshooting skills.
