POSITION OPENING POSITION: ELEMENTARY TEACHER

LOCATION: BLACKWELL SCHOOL – ANVIK, AK

2024-25 School Year

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Current Alaska Teaching Certificate or in the process of obtaining

an Alaska Certificate. Must meet highly qualified standards if teaching high

school subjects in language arts, math, science and social studies.

2. Knowledge and understanding of Alaska State Professional Teaching

Practices Commission.

3. Ability to plan, organize, develop, prepare and deliver under minimal

supervision, educational programs to students that reflect use of IASD

curriculum and materials.

4. Cross-cultural experience and/or course work preferred.

5. Successful rural teaching experiences or can demonstrate the ability and

knowledge to work competently with Native Alaskan students and all

students in an isolated and rural setting.

6. Experience and understanding of best teaching practices and can explain and

demonstrate effective use of such practices in a classroom setting in

multigraded class grades K-6.

7. The physical and mental capacity to adjust to challenging and remote

environments.

8. Experience and understanding the importance of ongoing formative and

summative assessments and can explain and demonstrate effective use of

such assessments in a classroom setting. Ability to use the data to improve

instruction and learning for students. Assessments might include portfolios,

scoring guides, running records, observations, and analytical and contextual,

plus others.

9. Proficient technology skill in commonly used software programs, e-mail,

internet etc that can be demonstrated on PC’s or Macs.

10. Experience with integrated project-based approach to education.

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 188-192 days

SALARY: Depending upon experience and education according to the District’s Teacher's

Negotiated Agreement.
