Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Prioritize safety above all to protect our team members, partners, and customers.
- Develop and implement welding schedules, processes for BIW manufacturing process (stations), ensuring compliance with quality and efficiency standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand BIW design requirements and provide expertise on welding feasibility and optimization.
- Conduct welding process evaluations, troubleshoot issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with the robotics engineering team to integrate welding processes with robotic systems, including Spot Resistance Welding, GMAW welding, and Laser Welding.
- Provide technical support to production teams, addressing welding-related challenges and ensuring smooth production flow.
- Collaborate with external suppliers to source, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge welding technologies.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in welding, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance production efficiency.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Welding Engineer in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on Body in White processes.
- In-depth knowledge of various welding processes, including Spot Resistance Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Laser Welding.
- Experience in welding process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and quality in welding processes.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Welding Engineer in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
