COVID vaccine will be required unless medical / religious exemption. Seeking a Biostatistician/Data Analyst for the Regional Perinatal Center in Valhalla, NY. Schedule will be approximately 8:00am-4:00pm or 9:00am-5:00pm. Pay rate will be approximately $70,000-$75,000 annual. This is not a remote position, requires On Site availibility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze NY Statewide Perinatal Database System (SPDS) NICU Module, Electronic Birth Certificate (EBC), & New York State quality initiative data for quality measures and obstetric & neonatal outcomes, comparing against benchmarks & over time while utilizing higher level statistical methods such as:
  • Multivariate Regression
  • Composite predictive and outcome scores
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Kaplan-Meier & Cox Proportional Hazard
  • Test for Trends
  • Others as appropriate
  • Export, merge, and maintain quality of SPDS NICU & EBC module data for analysis
  • Analyze and present NICU infant growth, feed type, and other key measures using graphical presentation and SPC to help affect change
  • Test continuous data for normality and apply non-parametric tests where necessary
  • Analyze demographic information such as income & population density of maternal zip code to have higher level analyses of outcomes controlling for Socioeconomic status
  • Factor unit volume & acuity of internal and affiliate NICU into analyses where applicable
  • Work with Regional Perinatal Center (RPC) Associate Director & other RPC staff to provide appropriate benchmarks for data analysis
  • Create reports based on data analyses for quality of data and outcomes, assessing perinatal public health, & responding to research questions utilizing SPDS NICU & EBC module data
  • Lecture trainees & medical staff regarding clinical research analyses
  • Utilize software to automate reports on various quality measures and outcomes
  • Prepare presentations & detailed site visit reports of outcomes for Quality Assurance (QA) meetings at affiliate hospitals with statistical analysis of trends over time
  • Attend and participate in off-site affiliate or NY State Department of Health meetings that may require alterations in scheduled work hours
  • Enter patient data into the NICU Module
  • Respond to and assist affiliate hospitals’ requests for data, outcomes, quality indicators, statistical analyses, as well as guidance with SPDS NICU module or EBC systems.
  • Aid & educate affiliates regarding updates & utilization of SPDS
  • Create graphs, tables, and PowerPoint presentations as needed to help demonstrate trends in data over time or by hospital
  • Collaborate with NICU Module manager and birth registrars at affiliate hospitals related to data entry, review & requests
  • Collaborate with Westchester Medical Center (WMC) physicians and track NICU Module data entry, quality, and requests
  • Assist QA staff and others in technical and data aspects of NYS quality initiatives
  • Monitor, compile, and analyze neonatal and maternal transport data by time and hospital of origin
  • Work with WMC Health Information Management staff, meeting regularly to improve quality of EBC data as well as other NYS data quality initiatives.
  • Monitor regional EBC & NICU public health data to help assess public health needs and advise community based organizations.
  • Attendance and participation at select regional professional conferences
